Hey, I’m
Bubbles
and I love to make things

I am a maker, a teacher, an artist, a festival organizer, and a father. Absolutely everything is ridiculous, so we might as well have some fun.

I have worked with many media, but I enjoy working with wood the most. Check out my portfolio page to see some pics of my carpentry, printmaking and other shenanigans.

Working Towards
Building Community

A few friends and I are seeking to start a family-friendly off-grid residential community and learning center focused on creativity, self sufficiency, and simpler living.

Let’s be weird in the woods together.

I have been a teacher of sorts for most of my adult life. I have taught art, graphic design, printmaking, technology, robotics, and carpentry to students. I have taught in public schools, universities, art centers, and after-school programs, but my favorite format to teach these days is in a skillshare workshop. I am on the hunt for a workshop space that I can use to teach folks hand skills in the near future.

Collective Embers

With the help of my incredible friends, I host a skillshare event out here in Louisa a couple of times a year. On Saturday I run a half-day workshop where we work together to build an effigy that is held together without any nails, screws or other non-combustibles. We all share food cooked over an open fire, and afterwards light the effigy and have a party.

On Sunday guests take turns leading short skillshare workshops. Walking stick carving, starting fires with a bow-drill, deer hide tanning, tye-dye shirts, and barefoot running are a few examples of the offerings we have had. Reach out if you would be interested in teaching a workshop at the next event. Collective Embers is free for all ages, but please come prepared to participate and share rather than just spectate.
